Sally McKirgan's painting "Eland" was chosen to be published in "The Artists Design: Probing the Hidden Order" by Marie MacDonnell Roberts.
Ms. Roberts book identifies and describes the elements of design, the artist's means to achieve an integrated work of art; the role of tensions and movement; the artists use of the "track of vision" to control the path and the pace of the viewer's see; and the use of a variety of design scaffoldings to provide solidarity and clarity to a painting. Each chapter is illustrated with reproductions of museum-quality paintings, over 225 in all, which demonstrate how maser painters have used these design principles. This book could well become a standard reference book. You can see "Eland" on page 147 and is in the "Energy and Tension" design category.
